Poet Bar: Poetry Slam!
POET BAR IS MAKING HISTORY WITH POETRY SLAM FOR MLK CELEBRATION!!! Mon Cherie is gracing the FRONT COVER of Phoenix Urban News Source, The Write Up Newspaper (December 15th Issue) featuring her commitment and dedication to providing academic scholarships to inner-city youth representing five (5) Phoenix-based high schools honoring the life work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through poetry. This event will be hosted by Comedian Extraordinare, BIG BABY, as seen on BET's Comic View, Comedy Central and Steve Harvey Show with SPECIAL GUEST PERFORMANCES in Spoken Word, Hip Hop, and Greek Steppin! The Poetry Slam is on January 19, 2008, at 2pm at Betty H. Fairfax High School (59th Ave. & Baseline), Laveen, AZ. ADMISSION is only $5. ALL AGES are welcome so bring the entire family. Awakening the Dawn
In the night,
when darkness is rich and deep.
The moon and stars are the only existence of light.
I awaken the dawn,
my subconscious soaring with endless possibilities.
I awaken...
For I am most alive when I am far into rem sleep,
my mind embracing all that my physical state cannot grasp.
Having more awareness of what is than anyone could possibly imagine.
I am the dawn...
The realization of something beyond what I can see or feel,
healing and rejuvenating myself to welcome another day.
In the night,
when darkness is rich and deep.
The moon and stars are the only existence of light.
My soul travels,
to places I would only be crazy to remember when conscious.
Does things beyond imagination,
because I am the dawn...
The existence of limitless energy,
soaring through subconscious plains free and un-inhibited.
I awaken the dawn,
I awaken myself as I sleep.
I awaken the reality that I am beyond flesh,
at least in my dreams,
I Awaken the Dawn...
